Behind the brand

Who are we and why do we exist? A direct question that shapes everything Intuition stands for.

Who are we and why do we exist? Intuition Store is a retail store that creates clothes from scratch. Founded by Ndumiso Jako in 2019/20, the brand aspires to create proudly South African garments that are locally produced from beginning to end.

The process stretches from fabric selection, to the design print on the fabric, to tailoring, marketing, and the distribution of carefully curated customised garments.

The brand argues against over-dependence on outsourced international production. Instead it pushes for authentic local making, local skills development, and custom printed fabric that keeps value, creativity, and production rooted at home.

Inception of Intuition

From sketch to clothing print

A personal sketch became the visual language used across all Intuition clothing.

The story begins with a personal sketch made while waiting at the Gautrain station in Pretoria – an emotional drawing made in a moment of love, anticipation, and restless imagination.

As the artist kept returning to the sketch, the lines started to reveal anxiety, happiness, and layered emotion. The drawing began to feel like a secret language, full of facades, sections, thresholds, and spatial clues that could be translated into fashion and print.

That original sketch became the visual source for the design prints on Intuition clothing: drawing, isolating details, developing the composition, and transcribing the artwork into wearable form.

Intuition Store is more than a clothing label – it is a statement about what South African fashion can be when creativity and production stay local. The journey centers on maintaining total stewardship over design choices, pattern drafting, and fabric layout, allowing human expression to outshine basic retail mechanics.

From the first sketch at a Gautrain station to tailored garments worn on the streets of South Africa – this is the story of Intuition. Every single product capsule steps forward into unconventional design silhouettes, creating wearable architecture that documents local community vibes, heritage preservation, and industrial resilience.

By bypassing traditional fast-fashion distribution models, the label maintains an uncompromised dialogue directly with its audience. It acts as an ongoing archive where graphics, stitch styles, and textile prints communicate shared emotional weights, spatial blueprints, and modern African identities.

This localized process empowers independent patternmakers, cutters, and digital creators across South African hubs. By avoiding mass assembly frameworks, each collection item operates as a custom structural blueprint, ensuring that the brand value loop remains anchored within local communities.

Ultimately, Intuition stands as a live manifesto for authentic local making. It proves that tactical, home-grown operations can successfully establish an influential streetwear vocabulary that balances artistic vulnerability with bold, industrial execution.
